First Jedediah Smith Trail 1822 — 1824
Day 3: August 18th, 2009 Pittsburgh (Chevrolet Dealer)
Today I can eventually start the day relaxed. The dealer will probably not call before noon. Helen has a doctors appointment at half past ten. Therefore she must also not leave early. So we have time for a nice chat at breakfast.
Just before ten she leaves and I start working on repacking my stuff in one suitcase. Then I check my emails and finally write my diary from the flight day. Then I write all about yesterday and what is happening today.
David puts all my ordered stuff on the front porch that I can pick it up. Hopefully, nothing is getting lost. That’s around $1000, which are sitting there outside and waiting for me to be picked up! Let’s see what will happen…
In the meantime, my mobile phone number already got in the focus of spamming calls. Today I received already the second call from a Computer–Cathy, who wants to sell me a credit card…
Around noon I am done with my diary and prepare a sandwich for me. Let’s see when Helen will be back. Just when I start working on my sandwich, she drives down the hill. My Chevrolet dealer has not called me yet and there is nothing to do on my computer. So I take again care of Helen’s computer and write a couple of emails.
Around two she must leave again to get stuff to her mother. Around three my Chevrolet dealer calls. To pass inspection, a bunch of things must be fixed: Wiper blades (was not able to do this yesterday and also thought they would not check this), parking brake and the hole above my exhaust pipe. Everything summed up should be around $560 plus tax. That is still okay. And tomorrow evening, my truck should be ready. That would also be still fine.
Just past three Helen returns. She is done completely and is not in the mood to drive anywhere. She says, I should drive over to David and take a look at my stuff and take with me what I need. So I drive over to David, take all my stuff and put it in the garage. There I sort the stuff out and must realize that the radiator connections doesn’t fit my adapters.
Just when I want to leave, David shows up. I have a talk with him and tell him about my problems. Using the opportunity, I also hand him back the key from yesterday. Then I drive back home and search on the Internet at Summit Racing for the correct adapters. That is not really easy, because I am not yet familiar with all the sizes. What is 6AN and how big is it compared to 3/8 NPT and 1/2 NPT. But around eight I have everything together and place my order at Summit Racing. This should arrive by tomorrow or the day after. That should be also fine. Let’s hope the best!
Then I drive over to Lone Star for dinner. Because I am already dog–tired I do not drive over to Pep Boys or Advance Autoparts. They are not really busy at the Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon. I receive again a comfy booth. But somehow I have the impression that my server does not really like me. But the service is okay and the food is also good.
Around nine I pay and drive back home. There I continue writing my diary first, before I need the restroom rather urgently. Somehow I have diarrhea again. That is really weird: The first steak just runs through…
Then I continue writing my diary. Tomorrow I will install my software. Around 10pm I make myself ready for going to bed. It seems like I am eventually able to go to bed earlier…
