This year I am following again the trail of Jedediah Smith in the year 1827, when he set off for his south west expedition. I will follow his trails also in the oncoming years until his death in 1831 by Comanches - at least this was the plan…
But this year again almost everything went wrong, this time with my mechanic in Warrendale, Pennsylvania. I already had problems with his bad work but this time he screwed up the truck so tremendously, that he almost totaled the car by fixing things. Unfortunately I found that out while being on the road. Therefore I only had one real day in the footsteps of Jedediah Smith. I also spent one day offroading in the Green River, UT, area. The day I followed Jedediah was in the High Sierras in California along Kings River. On my way back to Pittsburgh I visited the Jack Daniels and George A. Dickels Distillery in Tennessee.
Unfortunately this is also the last trail for now. Due to the bad job of my mechanic it is almost impossible to get the truck back on the road with a reasonable amount of money. I am also lacking time and money to build up a new Explorers Truck in the US. It took many years to modify this truck in a way that it is suitable for my extraordinary traveling. A new truck has to be modified with the same amount of time over many years and testing, which is impossible for me to do. But if I should find any solution to be back on the trails I will let you know! You should never give up hope! Let’s hope this project does not come to an end because of one bad mechanic!
