Day 7: September 9th, 2000 Pittsburgh (Car Preparation)

I hope I am able to reach my friend David today. He has a little garage where I can work perfectly on my car. After breakfast at Bob Evans I call him immediately. He will be back home around noon. Great, this gives me the chance to buy the valve cover gaskets before. Around noon I am at his garage.

I can start with the job immediately. But it is going to be way more difficult than expected. There is plenty of space under the hood but the area around the valve cover is full with equipment and hoses and lines. After several hours and finally some help from David I am able to get at least the “easy” side done. The other side will be done upon my return. I also do some little jobs on the car before it is time for dinner. I meet with David at the Outback Steakhouse. When saying goodbye he wishes me all the best for my travels. Tomorrow the journey will start!
