Also toady I have breakfast at Ram’s Horn Cafe. This time they are not really busy compared to last year at Labor Day. But even when they are not really busy, the coffee service is pretty slow. However, the bacon is indeed great!

Around 9am I pay and drive over to a gas station. Then I leave Worland again on Highway 16.

The road takes me back to Highway 434 at Ten Sleep, which I already entered yesterday accidentally.

Two times big cattle trucks are driving in the other direction on Nowood Rd. At a nice spot near a little creek I have a brief lunch break before I continue.

At Lost Cabin I reach pavement for a short distance. But soon after this little village, the Badwater Rd turns back to gravel again. There is a lot of traffic with many trucks. It seems like here are some oil refineries and a lot of pumps. You can also smell the sulfur.

Finally the traffic gets less. Near Shoshoni I reach pavement on Highway 20.

Last year I also drove through Shoshoni on Highway 26, when I was forced to drive a detour.

On Highway 26 I drive through Riverton.

There I turn onto the Riverview Road.

This time I follow the Wind River first along the Riverview Road before I reach Highway 26 again at Kinnear.

I drive for a short distance on Highway 26 before I turn onto Diversion Dam Rd, like last year.

This time I turn onto Burris–Lenore Rd before I reach the dam.

Then I drive on Wilderness Rd along the Wind River. Unfortunately this gravel road turns out to be an extreme washboard road. Again, I am getting scared about my little truck.

This time I am glad when I reach Highway 26 again, even when I had a couple of real nice views from the backroad — and also a pretty scary bridge was included…

On Highway 26 I reach my destination of today, the Super 8 in Dubois. But the room costs $10 more than expected! I ask the guy from India at the reception about maps and the ranger house around here. But he is not able to help me. Then I put my stuff into the room and check my first video taping.

Around 8pm I drive back into town to reach once again the Rustic Pine Steak House, where I also had dinner last year. I order again a filet, which is as great as last year. At the table next to me are eight firefighters and I start to expect the worst for tomorrow.

Around half past nine I pay and drive back to my motel. There I realize that the ranger house, which I already missed last year, is just across the street from my motel, only a little bit down the hill. Because it is a bit down the hill, I haven’t seen it before…
