Lewis and Clark Trail Back Home 1805 — 1806
Day 2: August 13th, 2001 Pittsburgh (Car Pick Up)
Today we plan to pick up my car. Helen arrives in the morning and we drive on to the mechanic. We ask for my car, but they tell us that they are not ready yet. We ask why and they explain that the upper mount broke apart when they tried to remove the worn out ball joints.
This was unforeseeable. We ask when they plan to have the car ready. But they are not able to give us a fix date. They try to get the car ready by Wednesday. Great — this means I will most likely loose two full days for my preparation.
We have to leave without car. The only thing I can do now is to check the maps I bought for the Lolo Motorway and to adjust my trail to roads where I am allowed to travel.
David returns back home late afternoon. He needs some stuff for his vacation from Wal–Mart and Dick’s. This gives me the chance to join him and also buy things I need. I am still lacking of a tent, shovel, camping stove and a bunch of other things.
After shopping we go to a Perkins Family Restaurant. I invite him for dinner as a small thank you for taking me to the shops and that I am allowed to stay in his house. Then we drive back home and have another nice chat.
