Wilson Price Hunt Trail (‘Astorians’) 1811 — 1812

Day 39: September 20th, 2006 Pittsburgh (Chevrolet Dealer)

On time I arrive at my Chevrolet dealer in Wexford. I talk to Jay and he tells me, that they can also repair differentials. Therefore I ask them to diagnose what is really wrong with the differential. They also have a look at the brakes (truck pulls in one direction). Eventually at half past twelve they are finished: The differential has broken bearings. Then they must change again something at the steering, then the brake discs and the rear shocks are also broken. All in all that will probably cost me around $2200 if I want to let them fix everything!

I drive home and have a brief lunch before I drive over to David to get the keys for his garage. I am lucky, he is still there. Then I drive to the car wash. After all the dirt is washed away I drive back to David and change my tires. I take again a look at the screws of my skid plate and realize that all screws are tight again! That was really a great job from the mechanics in Boise!

Then I have my usual fight of getting the tires in the trunk. But this time I do not need to unlock my rear seats. It seems like I have already run down the threats enough that they will fit this way. Around 5pm, I am eventually ready. But now it is too late to take a look at the issues with my car radio. So I put everything together. Also my CB antenna mount must be done reasonably next year. Somewhere must be placed a bigger washer that the antenna will hold up better. And there must be another solution for the rubber seal, that it is not shorting again to ground.

Then I take a look at the rust. Above the exhaust pipe, which I was already filling a couple of years ago, the rust continues dangerously. And there is also already pretty much rust on the doors. Hopefully that will work out…

I drive back home and make myself ready for dinner. But before I make a brief stop at Wal–Mart to get the fuel stabilizer. Also vitamin C and beta carotene is on my shopping list. And because the new CD from Sugarland is on sale, I also take this one with me.

Around half past seven I pay and drive back home. When I arrive I take a look at my CD collection and realize that I still miss some, which were also on sale. So I drive again to Wal–Mart to get the CDs from Dirks Bentley, Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins and Billy Currington.

Around half past eight I pay and drive directly to the Outback Steakhouse. My server there is pretty short in words, but the service is okay. Around a quarter to ten I pay and drive back home. Tomorrow we must already leave around half past seven, because Helen’s Mom has a doctor appointment…
