Robert Stuart Trail 1812 — 1813
Day 16: August 27th, 2007 Ontario — Twin Falls
Because there is also breakfast at Winger’s Ann I also visit them today. The bacon is excellent and the breakfast is really huge! Around a quarter to nine I pay and drive to a gas station. I decide to go to Idaho, because there I can take care of cleaning the windshield myself. There, time already advanced by an hour. So I leave just before 10am.
S Oregon St, Ontario, OR
First I drive back to the Snake River west banks and out of Ontario.
Highway 201/Succor Creek Hwy, OR
On Highway 201 I drive through Nyssa in Oregon.
Highway 201/Succor Creek Hwy, 1st St, Adrian, OR
Then I continue on this highway through Adrian and along the Snake River.
Highway 201/Succor Creek Hwy, State Line OR and ID
Highway 19/E Idaho Ave, Homedale, ID
Finally this highway also takes me to the state line of Idaho. From there it changes to Highway 19. In Homedale I turn onto Highway 95 before I take the smaller Pioneer Rd.

I am able to make good miles. Only one small planned offroad stretch cannot be passed because of private property. I also see the branch to Silver City from Highway 78, where I already wanted to go to last year. But also this time I must skip the visit due to lack of time.
At Grand View I turn onto Highway 167 and Riverside Ave from Highway 78. Later the Riverside Ave develops to the River Rd and takes me back to Highway 78.
Cottonwood Rd, Snake River, ID
88 S10 Blazer, Cottonwood Rd, ID
The real backroad feeling comes finally back on Cottonwood Road with a couple of nice views of the Snake River. Then this road takes me again back to Highway 78.
Highway 78/Marsing Murphy Rd, Snake River, ID
Shortly after, Highway 78 unites with Highway 51 for a little while, until I am back on Highway 78 along the Snake River. Finally I cross the river once again.
Now I reach Hammond. There I am driving on Old U.S. 30 between the Interstate and the Snake River in direction of Glenn’s Ferry. Just before I reach the village, I turn onto Sailor Creek Rd and cross first the railroads and then once again the Snake River. On Solosbal Road I continue on gravel.
Rosevear Gulch Rd, ID
Commercial St, Glenns Ferry, ID
On small backroads I follow the Snake River.

Finally I turn onto Canahan Road which takes me, like last year, along the Snake River. But this year there is not this much dust in the air like last year. So your are able to see this almost bizarre landscape also in a distance. This stretch along the Snake River just before Twin Falls is absolutely one of my favorites!
Tuana Gulch Rd, Snake River, ID
At the end of this beautiful drive I cross once again the Snake River.
Highway 30, Snake River, ID
From River Rd I continue on the bigger Highway 30. On this one I cross first the Malad River and shortly after once again the Snake River.
N 2000 E, Snake River, ID
But very soon I am able to be on the smaller backroads again. There I continue to follow the Snake River. There are even some small waterfalls falling down into the canyon which the Snake River has built over the years.
Because I have been traveling on so many highways I already arrive around 6pm at the Motel 6 in Twin Falls. Also last year I have been staying there overnight. So I do not need to search for the motel. I put my stuff into the room and check my video taping of today.
Then I drive over to the Outback Steakhouse nearby. Unfortunately the service is pretty poor. First they give me a coke with ice, then my server even forgets about my bred. All in all this was not really a good service. Around a quarter past nine I pay and drive back to my motel.
There parking is really crackbrained: For the rooms on second floor is no second parking lane. So everyone tries to squeeze on the rare parking spots in front of the first floor. Therefore I must park quite a distance away from my room. Then I am able to listen to my next CDs while taking care of my diary and typing in the new GPS coordinates for tomorrow. Around half past eleven I fall into my bed dog–tired…
