Robert Stuart Trail 1812 — 1813
Day 37: September 17th, 2007 Henderson — Maysville
I have breakfast at a Cracker Barrel which I found yesterday. The service is okay. Around a quarter to ten I pay and look for a gas station. Unfortunately I am not able to find one of my known brands, even when circling around for a while. Therefore I try a Thorton’s for the first time. There I also add the engine cleaner, which the guys at Pep Boys have talked me in.
Highway 60, Green River, KY
Then I am ready to roll. Again, I take the pretty busy Highway 60. Therefore I am not able to drive slow but am forced to go with the flow. Next time I must look for different routes. This way I have no chance for taking pictures or doing video taping.
Highway 60, KY
First I drive through Owensboro.
Highway 60, KY
Then I pass Ft. Knox.
At Louisville the traffic eventually increases dramatically.
Not till passing the Interstate, things are clearing up and I reach Shelbyville.
On Highway 60 I continue up to Frankfort.
Highway 460, Georgetown, KY
Highway 68, Paris, KY
Then I take Highway 460 to Paris, Kentucky.
Highway 68/Main St, Millersburg, KY
On Highway 68 I finally reach the Super 8 motel at Maysville. Just before 7pm I am checking in. There are a lot of street workers from all the construction zones around here at the motels. So I am lucky and receive the very last room!
I put my stuff into the room and check my video taping of today. Then I drive over to Wal–Mart and buy some CDs. There I even eventually find the one from Trent Tomlinson. Now I am just missing “Fishing in the Dark” from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
Then I continue to Applebee’s. The service there is extremely slow. It takes until half past nine when I am eventually able to pay and drive back to my motel. There I do my bookkeeping, write my diary and listen to the first of my recently bought CDs.
