Zebulon Montgomery Pike Trail to Red River, Arkansas Journey 1806 — 1807
Day 3: August 17th, 2004 Pittsburgh (Chevrolet Dealer)
Helen leaves around nine in the morning. First I read through my recently bought service manual for my truck. There are a lot of good hints written down, also on how to remove the instrument cluster. Around 11:30am my Chevrolet dealer already calls and tells me, that my truck is ready for pickup. There were no issues with my speedometer!
I pick up my car and buy the speedometer cable at the spare parts store. I almost get a heart attack when I hear the price: This cable costs $50!
Back home I take a closer look at the instrument cluster. Then I buy at Pep Boys and Wal–Mart some lights and hoses. Unfortunately I am not able to find a relay for my planned load switchover to be supplied either from my backup battery or the main battery.
In the evening I drive over to my favorite Outback Steakhouse for dinner. My server also just returned from Ireland and can really understand my jet–lag issues. Today I order for the first time only a 9 ounce steak, which is already enough for me.
