Robert Stuart Trail 1812 — 1813

Day 39: September 19th, 2007 Pittsburgh (Chevrolet Dealer)

My first task for today is driving over to Wal–Mart. There I buy a couple of CDs, dental floss and vitamins. Just past ten I continue to Barnes & Noble. Unfortunately they also don’t have a book about my next trail in stock.

Then I continue to my Chevrolet dealer in Wexford. First I visit the part store guys. They still remember me and give me a hearty welcome back. Unfortunately, the fan control unit can only be bought as a complete set for 190 Dollar! This is way too much for me. But the parking brake handle for 14 Dollar is really good and I take this one with me. Then I say Hi to Jay and discuss the work for next year with him. A new axle will be necessary together with both seals. Also I discuss with him my plan for the new fender flares.

Then I drive back home and put on my working clothes. The next stop is at the car wash where I get rid of all the dirt and also probably the salt from offroading in the Great Divide Basin. Somehow I got the impression that I could really watch how the truck was rusting. The area above the exhaust is almost completely gone.

After this I continue to David and find the key as discussed earlier with him. First I change the tires, then the parking brake handle. Also for my fan control I have an idea for a temporary fix. Only for my CB antenna I have no bright idea right now. Maybe I mount a metal sheet on my roof and mount the antenna on my next years planned roof rack. But this is something I still must think about.

Then I rearrange the stuff in my car to make room for my tires. David also says briefly Hi and we chat a little bit. Tomorrow is our usual good–bye dinner. After I have everything rearranged in my truck, I drive back to Helen. There I write my diary and do my bookkeeping.

Today, Helen is away with Johnna. Therefore I am by myself for dinner tonight. Around half past seven I drive over to my favorite Outback Steakhouse. Just before nine I pay and drive again to Wal–Mart. There I complain about the double billed CD. But they pay back the double billing without any discussion. Then I drive back home again. Because I have neither CMT nor GAC at home, I watch Mrs. Doubtfire with the original English voices before I go to bed.
