Wilson Price Hunt Trail (‘Astorians’) 1811 — 1812
Day 2: August 14th, 2006 Pittsburgh (Mine)
The jet lag takes its toll and I am awake at 5:30 in the morning. First I start to repack my suitcase to not wake up Helen. Around 6:45am she gets up and I also make myself ready to go to the bathroom. Then we drive over to the mine to get my S10 Blazer. She starts again immediately without any jump starting. However, only my backup battery is deeply discharged, because I forgot last year to disconnect it.
On our way back, we do a brief stop at Betty and I use the time to work on my backup battery. But all reanimation work is in vain and we drive back home.
Around noon we are back and we have a good sandwich first. Then Helen drives over to her Mom’s house and I start my shopping tour. First I buy at Wal–Mart all my necessary stuff (also WD40). Then I drive over to Pep–Boys. There I must learn, that they are not able to install the Add–A–Leaf spring for my rear axle!
So I started to spray everything in and get used to the thought of doing the work myself. At my Chevrolet dealer I check, if my spare parts have already arrived. But the spare tire latch has not yet arrived. So I also postpone to pick up my driven gear for the speedometer. Anyways, I use the opportunity to get the form for a late car drop off.
Helen plans to be back by 7pm. I adjust my departure to her schedule and drop my car at my Chevrolet dealer in Wexford at 7:15pm. At the repair shop, I place the form for the late drop off at their counter. Then we drive back home and pick up a pizza on our way back.
