Wilson Price Hunt Trail (‘Astorians’) 1811 — 1812

Day 4: August 16th, 2006 Pittsburgh (Chevrolet Dealer)

Today the main task is waiting for the call. Because I am now loosing a lot of time, I think of maybe only driving up to Columbus, Ohio, on my first day and then continue on my second day to St. Louis. But let’s see, how things are progressing…

Around half past ten I receive the awaited call and Helen drives me over to my Chevrolet dealer in Wexford. Then I buy my oil for the oil change and also a new oil drain plug. When doing the oil change, I must realize, that there are almost no threads left in the oil pan and I put in the first oversize screw.

Then I change to my new tires and replace the driven gear for my speedometer. While doing this, I realize, that the seal is broken. Also the shocks for my tail glass do no longer hold the window up. When looking at the work for my Add–A–Leaf I decide to not do it myself. This looks like too much work for me, especially when the screws are rusted in. Anyways, I spray a lot of WD40 on all the parts.

When I am back, I must learn, that Helen already had a sandwich for dinner. Therefore I leave for dinner alone and go to the Outback Steakhouse this time. There I receive a real great service!
