Zebulon Montgomery Pike Trail to Red River, Arkansas Journey 1806 — 1807
Day 5: August 19th, 2004 Pittsburgh (Car Work)
After going through my emails I drive first to my Chevrolet dealer at Wexford to get these two parts. But the gear box is very expensive and he suggests to check what is really broken. But I have to hurry up, because both parts need to be ordered.
So I drive back to David and take the parts apart. The driven gear looks really good, only the edges of the teeth are a bit worn out. But the gear box is not running smoothly. So I decide to exchange both parts. Now I hurry up to get back to my dealer and just to be sure, if the gear box is causing issues, I drive without it. And indeed, now everything looks way better.
When I arrive at my dealer I hand over the gear box that he can order the exact same part. Unfortunately I have not counted the teeth on my driven gear. So we order just by chance. Tomorrow they will call me most likely, to tell me, if the parts are available. According to the computer, both parts are available, whereas there is only one driven gear left in stock.
Then I drive back to the garage and I plan to start to install my stuff for the oil temperature and oil pressure gauge. Unfortunately the adapter for the sensor is too small. So I will start to install the gauges and electrical wiring first. After a long time of searching around I find a decent spot for my gauges and I prepare everything as far as possible.
Then I tell Theresa, that I am finished with my work and drive back home to have a shower first. Freshened up, I drive over to my Outback Steakhouse, where I have again my 9 ounce Outback Special.
