Zebulon Montgomery Pike Trail to Red River, Arkansas Journey 1806 — 1807

Day 39: September 22nd, 2004 Pittsburgh (Preparation for Storage)

I drive over to David and I am lucky: Although it is already past 9am, he is still there. He unlocks his garage and I take out my winch. But unfortunately I make a bad movement and blast my back. I am almost unable to move again.

Nevertheless I take apart the winch. But I am not able to find anything. Everything is made rock solid. There is absolutely nothing can brake. As I am not able to find anything, I mount everything back together again. In the meantime David is back and I ask him, if he could ship the winch behalf of me. Although he really has a lot of work, he agrees. I really have a bad conscience. But I have no clue how I could arrange any shipment within this remaining short amount of time.

Then I drive over to the car wash. Originally I planned to really clean my little truck and also to vacuum the inside. But with my hurting back, I am already glad that I am able to high pressure wash my truck and get rid of all the mud. Just for this I already need more than $10…

Back home at Helen I just pack together the stuff, I will leave in my car. Then I try to relax for my back. If that continues this way, I am forced to take some of my Diclofenacs.

Dinner is today at Helen. Originally I planned to ask her, if she would like to join me for dinner at the Outback Steakhouse. But because I can barely move, I am really glad, that I can have dinner with her at home — and she is a great cook!
